All your questions about LexBar and the Multistate Essay Exam are answered here.
LexBar is self-paced and you will have access for six months from the date of your enrollment. Some students complete the course in as little as four weeks, while others take 12 weeks. A good rule-of-thumb for most people is that you should have about nine weeks to complete the course before your exam. We recommend that most students spend between 3 – 4 hours-per-day working on MEE study, depending on their unique performance and needs, with most of the rest of their study time devoted to the MBE.
Yes, while LexBar is self-paced, there are a few suggested schedules available in the course. We have an accelerated schedule and a normal schedule. Under the accelerated schedule, you will study about 8 hours-per-day, 6 days per week, for 6 weeks. This sample schedule includes time for both your MBE study (in whatever external course you’re using) and MEE study (in LexBar). Under our regular sample schedule, you will study for about 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, for nine weeks. The normal schedule is recommended. This allows you time each day to study for the MBE as well as the MEE. Our schedules are merely suggestions. The course is self-paced, and you can decide how quickly or slowly you complete it. Your performance on quizzes and practice essays should guide you in how you spend your study time.
LexBar is designed to prepare you fully for the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE) portion of the bar exam only. It is not designed to prepare you for the MBE or for any state-specific exam. Some students like to pair LexBar with Adaptibar to get a full course for the Uniform Bar Exam at less than half the cost of traditional major bar prep companies. LexBar is also useful as an add-on to a course from one of the major bar prep companies. Whichever way you go, you will need a resource to study and practice for the MBE as well. LexBar can help give you an added boost to your essay score, even when you’re also using Barbri, Kaplan, or a similar full bar review course.
We have put our full expertise into ensuring that you don’t need us to grade your essays. Our proprietary technology breaks actual MEE questions down into their discreet legal rules and tests you over those rules. This interactive testing helps you focus on the most important rules to learn. Then, when you write practice essays, we provide a full answer for you to use to self-grade your answer. At this time, we are not offering essay grading services because we believe our course will provide you everything you need to succeed on the MEE.
We have one state-specific course for the Virginia Bar Exam available here. LexBar MEE is for all states the administer the Multistate Essay Exam, including all Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) jurisdictions.
LexBar gives you everything you need to pass the essay portion of the UBE. If you combine LexBar with an MBE-only program like Adaptibar, you should have all you need to pass the Uniform Bar Exam. While the UBE also includes a Multistate Performance Test (MPT), many students find that this part of the exam is self-explanatory after doing some of the free sample problems from the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
If you’d prefer a full-featured bar review course from companies like Barbri or Kaplan, LexBar can still help focus you on the right rules to learn for the MEE and give you a boost in knowledge for your essays. Most students find that spending two to three hours per day to work on lessons in LexBar gives them a major boost in MEE performance over their bar prep course alone.

Yes! We’ve helped hundreds of retakers succeed on their essay exams. LexBar is great for first-time takers as well as retakers. It’s beneficial if you struggled the most with the essays. In UBE states, the essay exam is worth 30% of your score, which can hurt you if you are not prepared for it. If you’ve failed the exam before, it can help to add LexBar to your primary bar prep course to help boost your essay performance.
Most students do well on the Multi-State Performance Test (MPT) simply by using some freely available practice problems to familiarize themselves with the process. There really isn’t much studying to do for the MPT. It’s all about practicing to familiarize yourself with MPT problems and expectations. We suggest that you do about six to eight MPT practice problems during your study period. Those are available for free from the NCBE. LexBar does not contain study materials for the MPT or MBE.
We guarantee that you will have unlimited personal access to full outlines, interactive quizzes, and our essay bank of previous authentic MEE questions and analyses, for six full months from the date of your enrollment. After you enroll, take 5 days to preview the course and make sure it fits your needs. If you’re not satisfied, you may request a refund within 5 days of enrollment by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is the only refund we offer.
We do not guarantee that you will pass the bar exam, and we do not offer refunds or discounts for re-takes or re-enrollment. These types of guarantees are counterproductive, and we believe that through your diligent study you will pass your exam.
